Musical instruments
Автор: Maria Korina · 2026

The series of digital prints «Musical Instruments» is an example of neo-pop art, where the aesthetics of mass culture are reinterpreted through the prism of digital technologies. I deliberately reject academic depth and realism, replacing them with a hyperbolic, almost aggressive visuality. The focus is on string and percussion instruments, which appear not as musical instruments, but as self-sufficient iconic objects of consumption. The composition is built on deliberate contrast: objects are torn from their usual context and placed in a flat space devoid of perspective. Bright, unnatural colors — shades of fuchsia, electric blue, and neon — create an effect of visual noise reminiscent of the aesthetics of glossy magazines or advertising posters. The seriality of techniques emphasizes the idea of reproducibility and simulation characteristic of the postmodern era. The instrument here loses its utilitarian function, turning into a pure image, into a sign devoid of the signified. This is an homage to classical pop art, but adapted to the language of digital printing, where color saturation becomes the main expressive means, creating an ironic and at the same time alluring hymn to superficiality.
